Some wedding days are loud and energetic from the very start.
Others begin softly — calm, cozy, and full of quiet knowing.
Haley & Dylan’s wedding day felt like the latter.
The morning began tucked away with the girls, getting ready in that familiar, almost homecoming-like way. Laughter, makeup brushes, comfy clothes, and that peaceful calm that comes when you know you’re about to marry your best friend. There was no rushing energy — just excitement layered with certainty.
One of my favorite moments happened during Haley’s first look with her dad. The wind had other plans and swept her veil right off in the middle of it — but not even that could interrupt the happy tears. If anything, it made the moment more real. Raw, emotional, and unforgettable.
The day itself was cold and windy — true Iowa October — but the love carried everything. The ceremony was incredibly sweet, filled with soft smiles, hand squeezes, and the kind of emotion you feel even before you see it. The candids from this day are some of my favorites — genuine laughter, tearful hugs, quiet glances, and full-body joy.
And I have to give a moment to my second shooter, Nik — yes, my husband — who absolutely understood the assignment. At one point, he climbed up onto a ledge to capture some of the dreamiest angles of the day, and I’m still obsessed with what he created from that perspective.
The reception was pure energy. The kind where the dance floor stays full, the music is loud, and no one wants the night to end. Every laugh felt bigger, every hug tighter, every song more fun.
And just when it seemed like the perfect ending couldn’t get better — Haley & Dylan ran away into the night together.
A total power move.
